“Our aim was to create an environment that provides direction, brings a sense of calm and encourages interaction. A place where visitors feel welcome, employees can work with focus and the identity of the municipality is clearly reflected.
We achieved this, among other things, by bringing nature indoors. Green landscapes from the surrounding area are projected onto screens. What is naturally present outside becomes a moment of tranquillity indoors – a glimpse of the outdoors without actually having to step outside.
Silence was another key element of the design, as a calm mind is essential to creating a good working environment for employees. Although the workspace is open-plan, it is remarkably quiet. Acoustics were therefore not an afterthought, but an integral part of the design process from the very beginning.”
“As acoustics played an important role in our project, 2TEC2 was a natural choice. Its acoustic felt backing helps reduce impact noise caused by footsteps and rolling office chairs.
In addition, 2TEC2 combines a soft, almost textile-like appearance with the practical benefits of a floor covering that is easy to maintain and designed to withstand intensive use.
Its modularity is another major advantage. If a tile were to become damaged, it could easily be replaced, unlike wall-to-wall carpeting, which would need to be replaced in its entirety.
Furthermore, the seams between the tiles are virtually invisible. This seamless finish creates a sense of visual calm, which once again ties in with our overall design concept.”
“Absolutely. We are already working on the redesign of offices as part of a new project, where we may incorporate 2TEC2.” - Patrick Jacobs, Architecten Jacobs – Sneyers
